DOMINION TOURNAMENT FIRST DAY’S PLAY Play in the B section of the Dominion Ladies’ Hockey tournament, which is being held in Dunedin for the first time aince 1923, was commenced at Logan Park yesterday afternoon in excellent weather There was a fair crowd of spectators, and. on the whole, the hockey was of a good standard. The Otago B team secured a win over South Canterbury by 4 goals to 1, after a game which was full of interest. Eastern A defeated West Coast A by 8 goals to nil, and Canterbury in an evenly contested match beat Southland B by 4 goals to 2. Though only three matches were played yesterday, there will be play in both sections to-day, and six matches will take place. The Floyd Shield, which goes to the runnereup, has been in the possession of Wellington for the past year. Both these teams are taking part in this year’s meeting.
