SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION

The quarterly meeting of the Otago Methodist Sunday School Union was held on Monday last in the Dundas Street Hall, 40 representative teachers assembling under the chairmanship of Mr S. G. Macfarlane. Reference was made to the Teachers’ Convention held on the King’s Birthday. The executive was disappointed at the numbers who attended, but those present had very helpful and inspiring meetings. Mr Ashby was appointed as union representative to synod, Mr W. Reed having gone to reside in Wellington. Mr J. Cuinberbeach was elected to fill the vacancy on the Syllabus Committee. It was decided to place on record and forward to Mr and Mrs Reed a letter of appreciation of their past services to the union and to express all good wishes to them in their new field of activity. Mr S. Bush read a devotional paper, which was followed by a discussion concerning the Sunday school anniversary, its objects, and how best to attain to success in this annual school festival. A motion of thanks to Mr Bush and also to the Dundas Street teachers for their hospitality was passed.
