NOTES. Telegraphic Chess.—The two matches, Otago v. Canterbury and Wellington v. Auckland. which were commenced last Saturday are to be continued this evening. The local team Is playing at the Otago Chess Club's room. Allbell Chambers, Stuart street. Space In the room Is well used up by the 20 players, „the operator, the umpire, the scrutineers, and the assistants, and consequently there Is little room left for spectators. Nevertheless a limited number of visitors are welcomed, provided silence Is kept and that :they depart within a reasonable time If the room beconies obviously overcrowded. Those who are Interested but have never previously seen a telegraphic Chess match should avail themselves of this opportunity to see one.

A New Wellington Club.—At Wellington a Chess club has recently been formed at Victoria University College. The membership Is 30. Matches are being arranged with some of the other 12 Chess clubs that are In existence In Wellington and suburbs. • New Zealand Chess Association.—The thirty-third annual general meeting of the Now Zealand Chess Association was held in Wellington on July 20. when MV FI. J. Broqkor' (Canterbury) occupied the chair. Delegates were present representing the' affiliated clubs.'."
