SOUTHERN MAORI SEAT

DATE FIXED FOR BY-ELECTION (Pee United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 11. The date of the Southern Maori byelection has been fixed for August 3. Nominations close on July 22. The Southern Maori electorate comprises the whole of the South Island and Stewart Island. Although in size the largest, numerically it is the smallest of the Maori electorates. At the last election, on December 1, 1931, Mr Makitanara retained for the Coalition the seat which he won as a United candidate at the 1928 election.
