MISHAP TO KARETU

AGROUND ON SANDBANK VESSEL IN NO DANGER. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 11. The Islands steamer Karetu grounded early yesterday morning on a sandbank in Nadi Bay, near Lautoka, in the Viti Leva Islands, of the Fiji group According to advice received by the owners, the Union Company, it was expected to refloat the vessel at high tide to-day. As the Karetu is lying in sheltered water the position is not regarded as serious, and she is reported as making no water. The Karetu is a vessel of 3210 tons gross register, and is employed in the Auckland-Sydney-Fiji trade. She was formerly engaged in the cargo trade between Newcastle, Sydney, and South Island porta.
