FORBURY TROTTING CLUB
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Forbury Park Trotting Club was held last night, the president, Mr B. fa. Irwin, in the chair. There were also present Messrs James Mitchell, John Mitchell, R. Greenslade W. J. L. Goughian, H. Archbold, A. Clark, and G. J. Barton. . , „ ~ ~ , A letter was received from the Department of Internal Affairs advising that the club’s application for a refund oi an additional 1J per cent, on the sum of £20,000 passed through the totalisator during the meeting held in November, 1931, had been granted.—Received. _ The clerk of the Dunedin South Licensing Committee wrote advising that conditional licenses to an approved licensee on the conditions previously existing, would be granted for the club’s meetings during tbe year ending on June 30, 1933. The committee, however, was unanimously of opinion that the fees charged by the club to whoever might be the holder of a license, should, on account of the prevailing depression be reduced by 20 per cent, for the coming year.—lt was agreed to reduce the fee for the coming year as suggested by the committee. j A letter was received from the secretary of the Dunedin Jockey Club asking the Forbury Club to consider fixing the date for its summer meeting a week earlier than usual. The writer pointed out that his club had raced on the second Thursday and the following Saturday in February for many years, and, as the Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting took place on the following Saturday, it was impossible for the Dunedin club to race later than the dates applied for. —After some discussion it was decided that the club was unable to agree to the request, and that the dates already applied for (February 2 and 4) should be adhered to. The secretary of the South Otago Trotting Club wrote asking the support of the club, through its delegate to the Trotting Conference, of the South Otago Club’s claim for a totalisator permit, which he had reason to believe would be available next season.—lt was decided to comply with the request. A letter was received from Miss E. Hinds, requesting the club’s support of her application to the Trotting Conference to have the disqualification of Ngingongingo lifted.—The club’s delegate to the conference (Mr Irwin) was instructed to support the application. It was decided to hold the annua! meeting on Monday, August 22.
