Tuesday, June 14. (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) DAMAGING CONSTABLE’S COAT. Thomas Livingston was charged with drunkenness and with committing mischief by wilfully damaging an overcoat to the extent of 10s, the property of the New Zealand Government, lie pleaded guilty. -Sub-inspector Cameron said that the defendant was in a drunken condition in U shop in town on Monday evening, and had to be removed by a constable. While being put into a taxi he took hold of the constable’s coat, which was torn. He was a single man on relief works.—The defendant said he met friends and went a bit “ over the odds.” —A fine of 10s was inflicted on the charge of drunkenness, in default 24 hours’ imprisonment, and for damaging the coat defendant was convicted and ordered to make good the damage done (10s), in default 48 hours’ imprisonment. DRUNKENNESS. Maurice Langley, charged with drunkenness, pleaded guilty, and was fined 10s, in default 24 hours’ imprisonment.
