DISCHARGE OF SHOTGUN

ALLEGED HARMFUL INTENT MAORI SLIGHTLY INJURED. (Per United Press Association.) MASTBRTON, June 14. The sequel to a shooting affray near the Waiohine River bridge, South of Carterton, about 5.30 p.m. on Saturday was heard in the Carterton Magistrate’s Court to-day, when Jack Richards was charged with discharging a firearm at Reuben Kopu with intent to do bodily barm. The accused was remanded to appear on Tuesday. It was stated that Kopu, who lives across the road from Richards, heard an altercation in the latter’s house and went across to investigate. When approaching, however, it is alleged, Richards discharged a .shotgun at him, portion of the shot entering Kopu’s wrist and causing a slight injury.
