THE FIGURES FOR MAY (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, June 7. (Received June 8, at, 5.5 p.m.) In connection with the figures of employment and unemployment given in the Ministry of Labour’s statement for May it is estimated that approximately 9,402,000 insured persons between 16 and 64 are employed on May 23. The unemployed, which included 430,828 women, 69,587 boys, and 50,413 girls, comprised 2,001,220 wholly unemployed, 630,064 temporarily stopped, and 109,515 who were normally in casual employment.
