(From Our Own Correspondent.) BALCLUTHA, May 20. UN EMPLOYMENT COMMITTEE. The Balelutha Unemployment Committee has been notified that its weekly allowance for relief workers has been reduced by £lo—viz., from £B4 weekly to £74. The action of the Unemployment Board has caused much dissatisfaction amont; the members of the committee, and the chairman and the secretary, it is understood, to-day decided to hand in their resignations. OWAKA COURT. CHARGE OF SHEEP STEALING. BALCLUTHA, May 20. At Owaka yesterday, before Mr H. J. Dixon, S.M., William Thomas Renton was charged with, on March 10, at Owaka, stealing a lamb, the property of G. T. Falconer, of Owaka. —Senior Sergeant Martin prosecuted on behalf of the police, and defendant was represented by counsel. After hearing evidence, the accused was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within 12 months. —The accused was further charged with being in possession of one lamb skin from which the ears had been removed. On this charge he was convicted and fined £lO, with court costs (3s), and witnesses’ expenses (£5 8s). BALCLUTHA COURT. In the case Thomas Treacy versus the Clutha County Council, a claim of £lB, for the hire of a pontoon (24 days at 15s a day), judgment. was for the plaintiff for the £5 paid into court, with 10s costs, and £2 4s costs was awarded to the defendant county.
