THE ROXBURGH TRAIN SERVICE
TO THE RDITOR. Sib, —Having read the time table alterations in the Roxburgh branch service in yesterday's paper, I would like to know how people living beyond Lawrence who have taken advantage of the excursion or cheap fares for the school holidays are supposed to get home? A few of them, no doubt, would expect to travel on the usual Monday train, which has been for some time their only means of travelling direct by rail between town and Roxburgh. They have bought return tickets, but will now have to stay overnight in Lawrence or travel by bus. Why all the large advertisements, "Travel by rail" if the public is to be treated like this? Perhaps the Railways Department is refunding half of the return fare, or, better still", running the usual Monday train from Milton on the 23rd.—1 am, etc., Interested. [The district traffic manager, to whom we referred this communication, advises that if our correspondent will communicate at once with his office suitable arrangements will be made to have the passenger returned to Roxburgh on May 23.
