CHRISTCHURCH, May 18. Following nine degrees of frost the day was fine but rather cloudy with a light air from the north-east, which changed to the south-west. The maximum temperature was 5(5 degrees. The barometer was steady all day at 30.05, but commenced to rise this evening.
