Probably the men will work tomorrow-. THE UNIONS NOTIFIED MINES TO RESUME WORK (Per United Press Association.') GREYMOUTH,„ May 17. The coal mines in the Grey and Inangahua districts will resume operations tomorrow consequent upon the receipt by the miners’ organisations of a telegram from the Coal Owners’ Federation stating that a conference is being arranged in. order to negotiate a new agreement. Tlie miners meantime are working under the old agreement. It is doubtful, however, whether the Buller mines will resume before Thursday as the intimation of the owners’ decision respecting a conference arrived too late to allow of the Buller unions being advised by telegraph to-night. The date of the conference is to be communicated later by the coal owners.
