The Gale sailed last evening for Timaru and Lyttelton to complete loading for Wellington and Wanganui. The Walkouaitl Is due at Dunedin on Sunday from Oamaru. The C. and D. Lina motor ship Tort Huon arrived at Wellington on Saturday morning from Lyttelton to complete Homeward loading. She was to clear Wellington yesterday for London, via Cape Horn and Dakar. The Shaw-Savlll Company advises that Its liner Mataroa left Wellington on Monday for Napier and Auckland to complete Homeward loading. She is scheduled to clear Auckland finally on May 28 for Southampton and London, via the Panama canal. The C. and D. Line advises that the Port Darwin arrived at Lyttelton on Monday morning from Launceston to commence. Homeward loading. She will later complete at Wellington and Auckland and Is scheduled to clear Auckland finally on May 27 for London, via Capo Horn and Montevideo. To continue discharge of her Pacific coast cargo, the Union Company's Walhemo arrived at Wellington on Saturday morning from Napier. She left Wellington on Monday for Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney to complete discharge. With passengers, mall and cargo, the union Company’s intercolonial steamer Marama arrived at Auckland yesterday from Sydney. She sailed last evening for Wellington and will bo despatched from Wellington on her return voyage to Sydney direct on Friday. The steamer Larchbank, with a cargo of phosphate from Nauru Island, arrived at Auckland on Sunday. After unloading a portion of her cargo at Auckland the vessel will proceed to New Plymouth and Wanganui. CANADIAN LEADER FROM MONTREAL. The Canadian National steamer Canadian Leader was expected to leave Montreal yesterday with general cargo for discharge at Dunedin, Lyttelton, Wellington and Auckland. She should arrive at this port early In Julv. MARIPOSA LEAVES HONOLULU. The Oceanic Line steamer Mariposa, on her first voyage In the regular transpacific service, left Honolulu on May 12 for Auckland, Sydney, and Melbourne, via Suva and Pago Pago. The vessel Is duo at Auckland on May 23. OCEANIC STEAMER MONTEREY. The new Oceanic steamer Monterey, which Is to conduct the Los Angeles, Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne service with the Mariposa, was scheduled to leave New York on May 12 for San Francisco and Los Angeles, via Panama, to enter the transpacific run. The vessel Is to leave San Francisco on June 3 and Los AngeleS the following day, arriving at Auckland on June 20. KETCH WATERLILY. Advice has been received that the ketch Waterllly left Russel at 12.30 p.tn. cn Saturday for Tonga, with a fresh southerly wind to assist her. The crew, consisting of seven Christ’s College old boys, had been busy repairing the sails and painting the ship. VENTURA’S'LAST TRIP. On her last visit to Auckland prior to being withdrawn from the transpacific service, the Oceanic Lino steamer Ventura arrived at the northern port on Saturday morning from Sydney. The Ventura Is the last of the older Oceanic steamers, formerly known as Matson vessels, to remain In the service, the Sierra being withdrawn when she reached San Francisco on April 20, and the Sonoma on her arrival on May 11. The service from San Francisco and Los Angeles to Auckland, Sydney, and Melbourne, via Honolulu. Pago Pago, and Suva, will be continued by the company's new vessels, Mariposa and Monterey. MATAI’S ROUGH TRIP. The Government steamer Matal, which left Wellington at 1.30 p.ra. on Friday for Lyttelton, had an exceedingly rough trip and did not arrive at Lyttelton until Saturday evening. Instead of at 7 a.m. on Saturday as expected. The ferry steamer Rangatlra, which left Wellington at 8 p.m. on Friday, overtook the Matal at 10.30 p.m., 13 miles north of Cape Campbell. The lighthouse steamer was meeting very heavy seas In Cook Strait. A message from Captain Burgess was received In Lyttelton on Saturday morning, stating that the Matal would arrive at 6 p.m., but the weather Improved slightly and the vessel arrived an hour earlier. The Matal loaded material at Lyttelton for fencing the new automatic light at Le Bon’s Bay, and will call at Le Bon’s to discharge it. She brought to Lyttelton the new automatic flashing light which Is to replace the present fixed light at Godley Head. PASSENGERS BY THE NARBADA. After a fairly good trip from Calcutta, the Union Company’s chartered steamer Narbada arrived at Auckland last Friday afternoon. She brought 14 passengers. Including three New Zealanders, who have come home from the East on furlough. Mr and Mrs H. W. Hamilton, of Christchurch, will spend nine months' leave In the Dominion. Mr Hamilton has for five years been attached to the Survey Department of the Malay States Government. A native of Palmerston North, Mr E. M. Campbell, has been Invalided homo by the British and Indian Navigation Company. Ho was a chief officer in the service, and while the ship was at Christmas Island In the South Indian Ocean on December 21 he fell 60 feet on to the ship’s deck and broke both his legs. He went Into the Auckland Hospital for treatment, and expects to return to the East in about three months’ time.
