“COME TO DUNEDIN” WEEK

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE A meeting of the executive of the “ Come to Dunedin ” Week movement was held yesterday afternoon and attended by; His Worship the Mayor (in the chair), Messrs J. J. Marlow, G. A. Goughian, W. B. Steel, R. H. Steele, H. L. Paterson, H. Harris, A. F. O’Donoghuc, W. Kindley, F. W. Cleavin, J. Beattie, D. Minnock, J. D. Cameron, G. Errington, F. H. Dampen and Dr Galway. Two letters were received from the New Zealand Trade Commissioner, Sydney, promising to give all possible publicity to “ Come to Dunedin ” Week and enclosing copies of advertisements he had already inserted in the daily papers.— Noted vith thanks. The reports of the Processions Subcommittee was submitted, and it was decided to invite the Otago Motor Club to take part in the procession with decorated cars and other suitable exhibits.— The matter of the Maoris building a Maori oven and roasting an ox in it was referred to a sub-committee to endeavour to arrange. The chairman suggested that, as a suitable opening to the carnival on Saturday, May 28, the'“King and Queen of Joyland ” or some equally appropriate personages be welcomed at the Railway Station and driven to the Town Hall, there to receive the freedom of the city. —The suggestion was adopted, and it was decided to hold the opening ceremony at noon that day. The appointment of Messrs G. S. Lawrie and R. H. Steele as a committee to take charge of the fireworks display and other items at Carisbrook on June 4 was approved.—lt was decided to take out an a&ident insurance policy covering this and other events during the carnival. It was resolved to hold short entertainments in the Town Hall each afternoon, and that the tea rooms there should be open both afternoon and evening.
