RIFLE SHOOTING
CLINTON DEFENCE CLUB. The Clinton Defence Rifle Club fired a match with the Tapanui Club on the Clinton range on Saturday, resulting in a win for the home team. The 500 and 600 ranges were shot over, 10 shots with two optional sighters at the 500 _ range and seven shots with two optional sighters at the 600 range. A light breeze and good light made shooting conditions favourable at the start of the match, but halfwav through the 500 yards’ shoot the wind changed to a fishtail, and rain followed, making conditions anything but pleasant. There wa s an improvement for the'6oo yards’ range, the rain and wind abating, but visibility was poor. Rifleman H. Turner was top scorer for the Clinton team with 76 . and Rifleman W. Hancox for the Tapanui team with 72. The following are the'scores CLINTON TEAM.
