ILLICIT LIQUOR DEALINGS

PROSECUTIONS IN GERMANY,

BERLIN, May 16. (Received May 16, at 9.5 p.m.)

A gang of illicit dealers in alcohol near Strasbourg was fined a total of £2,650,000, The highest individual fine was £515,000. Ten of the gang were also imprisoned. It was alleged during the trial that similar smuggling of sugar at Hamburg involved London bankers in a loss of £1,000,000.
