THE DAVIS CUP AUSTRALIANS AGAIN SUCCESSFUL. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) HAVANA, May 15. Hopman defeated Morales, 6—2, 6 —2, 6—4. There was a considerable amount of erratic tennis on the part of both players, interspersed with brilliant placements and volleys. ‘ Sproule, substituting for Crawford, who was suffering from a slight attack of asthma, had little difficulty in defeating Vollmer, 6—l, 6—l, 6—4. In the first two sets the Cuban was completely outclassed. He rallied in the third set. but not sufficiently to win the set. The Australians will sail to-morrow en route to Philadelphia. UNITED STATES DEFEATS • I , MEXICO. NEW ORLEANS, May 15. (Received May 16, at 5.5 p.m.) The United States had a clean sweep against Mexico in the Davis Cup match. Vines defeated Tapio, 6—4, 5—7, 10 —12, B—6, 6—3. Shields beat Mestre, 6—o. 6—l, 6—o. MALFROY’S TRIPLE SUCCESS LONDON, May 15. The New Zealander, C. M. Malfroy, scored a triple success in the Cambridge University lawn tennis tournament, winning the Singles and partnering, the winners in the Men’s and Mixed Doubles. C. M. Malfroy, who learned the game in Wellington, left New Zealand about two years ago for Cambridge University. At that time he was recognised as one of the leading players in the Dominion. While in England he has gained a number of tournament successes, and this year he was appointed captain of the Cambridge lawn tennis team.
