DOG TRIALS
PALMERSTON COLLIE CLUB. The opening day of the thirteenth annual trials of the Palmerston Collie Club was held yesterday in fine but cold weather. Owinir to the heavy rain of the previous day the around was very wet. underfoot. The following are the first five placing in the first event, the Maiden and Open Heading, which was contested by 40 competitors: — John 1 Anderson’s Toby. Junior, 35A points .. •• V ” •• o G. P. Johnston’s Red, 35 points .... 2 John Anderson’s Roe, 34} points .. .;. t M. A. Matheson’s Glen. 34} points .. t M. A. Matheson’s Tweed, 34 points .. 5 The club is to be congratulated on .the excellent arrangements which have been made for the catering in their new pavilion. This new venture has proved a great success, .’■■■■■ The winner of the sheep guessing was Mr W. Philip with a weight of 1091 b, andMrs C. J. Scott was second. The correct weight was 108}lb.
