Mr Justice MacGregor arrived from Wellington by the afternoon express yesterday on a snort visit to Dunedin. Mr G. W. Reid left yesterday for Wellington to attend a meeting of the Railways Board. Mr H. L. Gibson, district traffic manafer of railways, returned to Dunedin from Salelutha yesterday. Sir Lennon Raws, Australian and New Zealand representative of Imperial Chemical Industries, left by car yesterday for Christchurch. He was accompanied by Messrs G. H. Holford, H. D. Kerr and S. P. Cameron. A Press Association cablegram from Darwin states that the death has occurred at Katherine Waters of Jack McLennan, one of the principal characters in “ We of the Never, Never,” a novel descriptive of Australian outback life. Miss Dorothy Sligo, of Dunedin, who was placed first in the soprano solo at the Christchurch Competitions on Monday evening, secured another success last evening, when she was placed first in the soprano test.
