BOXING

RETURN OF ALLAN CAMPBELL. (Per United, Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 10. Looking none the worse for his gruelling bout with Ambrose Palmer, the New Zealand heavy-weight champion, Allan Campbell, returned to the Dominion to-day. In an interview Campbell offered no excuse for his defeat except that he did not have sufficient training after arriving in Sydney. He had only seven days’ training before entering the ring. Campbell has a contract with Mr H. D. MTntosh, the Australian promoter, for two more fights in Sydney. A Japanese, named Tony Gora, is mentioned as one of his opponents. Ray Nicol, of Invercargill, challenger for the heavy-weight title of New Zealand, may also be one of Campbell’s opponents in the near future.
