MEN’S ASSOCIATION The Executive Committee of the Otago Hockey Association met last evening in the -Y.M.C.A. Mr W. M’Qucen occupied the chair, and there were also present Messrs F. R. Brebner, W. Blakie, W. Gibson, E. Densem, J. M'Haffie, J. Harris, H. Thomson, R. S. Wallace, D. T. Woodfield, J. Starr, C. Mayston, and H. Sew Hoy. The town clerk (Mr G. A. Lewin) wrote stating that, in view of a recent Magistrate’s Court ruling, the council desired to have the Cricket Association and the two Hockey Associations provide indemnity in case of further accidents in which windows, vehicles, or persons might be damaged or injured, and suggesting that this could best be done by means of an insurance policy being taken out in the council’s favour, —It was decided to hold the matter over till next meeting in order that inquiries might be made into the position. The West Harbour Ladies’ Hockey Club wrote stating that the club wished to secure a coach, and asked if the association could offer any assistance.— It was decided that a player would be found to undertake the coaching of the team.
Mr C. Sew Hoy wrote declining to act on the Junior Selection Committee. —Received. Mr G. Cummings was appointed to fill the vacancy. Mr A. J. Hinton wrote stating that, owing to pressure of other duties, he was obliged to resign from the position of .chairman of the executive. He had also to decline to act on the Senior Selection Committee. —It was decided to hold over the question of Mr Hinton’s resignation till next meeting. Mr B. H. Morris was elected to fill the vacancy on the Selection Committee.
The New Zealand Hockey Association forwarded a circular letter regarding the proposed tour of' Australia by a New Zealand team. It had been decided, the letter stated, to accept the Invitation of the Australian Hockey Association, provided that a suitable team could be found. The Association had been asked to suggest the itinerary. Players would have to pay their own way from their home towns to Sydney, all expenses while on tour to be paid by the Australian Association. The expenses each player would be required to provide would amount to £2O or £25. Associations were invited to nominate players for the New Zealand team, and also to forward nominations for the office of manager of the team. —It was decided to ask the selectors to forward nominations of players to next meeting. Transfers were granted as follows: T. Arnold (Southland) to Training College, A. K, Baxter (Albany) to Balclutha, L. Souness, P. Every, F. Winton (Training College) to University, L. Hayward (High School Old Boys) to University), L. Rothwell (Wellington University) to Otago University, E. Wilson (Albany) to Balclutha (subject to clearance), H. Pickup (Ciiristchurch Technical Old Boys) to King Edward Technical Old Boys (subject to clearance).
