GOOD TEMPLARY

The weekly meeting of the Rescue Lodge, No. 105, was held on Tuesday, when Bro. J. Hilton, G.T., presided over a good attendance of members and visitors from the Hope of Dunedin, Hope of Cavershaw, and All Nations’ Lodges. Reports on sick members showed an improvement in the health of those laid aside. The report on the Juvenile Department showed that a good standard was being maintained. The syllabus for the ensuing quarter was submitted and adopted. The Finance Committee’s report showed the lodge to be in good standing. .The C.T. (Sister J. Cameron) presided over the weekly meeting of the Sunshine Junior Lodge, No. 4, on Wednesday, when there was a fair attendance of members. One candidate was received and welcomed. After business, a competition was held, and two teams, captained by the C.T. and V.T. respectively, engaged in miniature bowls. An exciting finish resulted in the C.T.’s team winning by a small margin. A discussion as to the suitability of the meeting night resulted in Thursday being chosen instead of Wednesday for future meetings. , ~, , The Star of Freedom Lodge held its fortnightly meeting in the Kaikorai Presbyterian Sunday School Hall. In the absence of the chief templar, Bro. Sell presided. Bro. A. Scott reported on the Queen Carnival Committee, and also moved that a vote of thanks be passed to the Grand Lodge Reception Committee for the way in which it had carried out its duties. Bro. Sell, the Grand Lodge representative to the Reception Committee, gave a full report in connection with the committee. Greetings were received from Bro, Williams (Hope of Dunedin), Sister Giles (Hope of Caversham), Bro. Hilton (Rescue), The prownmme for the evening was “ Sacred and Temperance. The following items were contributed: — Organ recital. Sister Robinson; solo, Bro. Hilton; memorial reading, Sister Williamson; war reminiscences, Bro. Williams; solo, Sister Leishman; recitation, Sister Reynolds; temperance talk, Sister Giles. Bro. Scott moved a vote of thanks to the visitors and to all those who had contributed items. _ , VT The Hope of Dunedin Lodge. No. 155, met on Wednesday. C.T. Bro. South presided over a large attendance. The meeting was handed over to the S.J.W. (Sister Raynor), and the juvenile temple entertained the lodge as follows: —Bro. J, Rowe, song; Edna Denton, recitation; temperance recitation —Mavis Rowe, Jean Sands, Tui Armishaw, Anita Birshall; dance, Mavis Rowe; whistling selection. Mavis Raynor, mouth-organ selection, Victor Rowe: recitation. J- South; dance, Audrey M'Alley; song, Mavis Raynor; recitation, R. Scott; dance, N. Egan. Supper was handed round and the meeting closed. The Hope of Caversham Lodge, No. 128, held its weekly meeting on Thursday evening, C.T. Sis. Mrs Giles presiding. Visitors were present from the Rescue Lodge. After the routine work the officers for the next quarter were installed by Sis. Mrs Pauli, L.D., assisted by Bro. W. G. lies and Sis. Steedman, sen., who acted as installing marshals. The programme for the evening was “Mothers’ Night,” each mother present being presented with a floral tribute, while several brothers and sisters contributed items suitable to the occasion. During the evening the district superintendent of education urged upon members the need for a keener interest in the problems that confront the temperance movement. Bro. Giles, who spoke in support. pointed out the benefits of Study Circles" which had been of great use m educating members, especially the younger ones, in certain countries in Northern E The Silver Star Juvenile Temple. No il„ met on Wednesday in the Good Templar Hall Harrop street. C.T. Sis. P. Rackly presided over a large attendance of members, over 50 being present. Two candidates wore initiated. Sis. Steedman, sen., was a visitor from tho Hope of Dunedin Lodge, and gave a short address on Ternperanoc. The election of officers resulted as follows; —P.C.T., Sis. P. Rackly;.o.l., Bro. V. Rowe; E.T.. Rowe: F.S., A.S.J.W., Bro. South: treasurer Sis. Raynor The Radiant Morn Juvenile Temple, No. 21, held its weekly meeting on Saturday, Chief Templar Bro. W. Mason presiding over a large attendance of members. Superintendent Bro. W. G. lies was in charge. The programme for the evening was in the hands of the new officers. The following members contributed towards the "harmony of the evening:—Sis. J. Fraser (recitation). Bro. Rae (solo), Sis, J. Knight (recitation), Bro. L. Munroc (solo), Sis. D. Freeman (recitation 1 Bro. Mason (recitation). Brn. G. Ties (accordion selection). Bro. 11. White led the members in community singing. A surprise packet was banded round, and tno members indulged in a number of competions which brought a happy and successful meeting to a close.
