WHEAT AND OATS
PROGRESS THRESHING DROP IN WHEAT YIELD ’ The results of threshing operations carried out during the period January-March have been ascertained from returns received up to April 19. The figures show that 3,996,892 bushels of wheat and 856,830 bushels of oats have been threshed from harvested areas of these crops, the ascertained average yields per acre being 26.47 bushels for wheat and 35.78 bushels for oats. A table is appended, showing for each land district the quantities of wheat and oats threshed, and the average yield per acre in each case,
In the foregoing return 3,090,819 bushels are Tuscan, 619,492 Hunters, 106,646 Pearl, and 179,935 bushels seconds. The area represented in the above bushelage is 150,000 acres.
The total comprises 502,356 bushels white oats, 119,447 Dun. 18,065 black, and 216,962 Algerian.
