FIVE YEARS FOR TRAMP
Sentence of five years’ penal servitude was passed at Winchester recently on Arthur Lewis Davies, aged 40, a bearded tramp, who pleaded guilty to maliciously setting fire to a stack of straw and a stack of oats at Abbots Ann, and to a charge of assaulting a woman at Mouxlon. The judge told Dav ies that his offences were very serious. He wont to n woman’s house, asked her for ton. and while she was goimr to get it he hit her in the face with a stone. It was a desperate offence. Then lie went away and fired a lick. Such crimes must he put down.
