Sentence of five years’ penal servitude was passed at Winchester recently on Arthur Lewis Davies, aged 40, a bearded tramp, who pleaded guilty to maliciously setting fire to a stack of straw and a stack of oats at Abbots Ann, and to a charge of assaulting a woman at Mouxlon. It was a desperate offence. Then lie went away and fired a lick. Such crimes must he put down.
