The monthly meeting of the Green Island School Committee was held on Monday evening, the Rev. Mr Gilman Dunn presiding. The acting-headmaster reported that the average attendance for the month was 323, out of a roll of 345. The Education Board had sent out an additional assistant (female) teacher to remain till the end of the first term. The chairman expressed the hope that the large attendance might be maintained, warranting a permanent appointment. The secretary was instructed to write to the Education Board asking that a representative might be sent cut to inspect the school and report to the board regarding the accommodation, which was severely taxed at the present time. "Accounts amounting to £23 9s 8d were passed for payment. A recommendation was made to the incoming committee to consider the question of holding a vegetable and flower show to endeavour to raise funds for school improvements, etc.
