SUNDAY SERVICES

The Rev. D. C. Herron will conduct both services at Knox Church to-morrovy. The evening subject will be “Wilt Thou Be Made Whole; ’’ The choir will sing the cantata “ Voices of the Cross ” at the evening service.

At First Church to-morrow the eightyfourth anniversary of the church and province will be observed by special services, The morning service will be attended by the early settlers, and the evening service by the Mayor and city councillors. Mr Stevely’s morning subject will be “ Our Promised Land." and the evening subject “A City Which Hath Foundations." Dr Galway will be at the organ, and there will be special anthems — “For All the Saints" (Vaughan Williams) in the morning and “ Let Us Now Praise Famous Men” (Walford Davies) in the evening. Miss Bertha Rawlinson will sing the 23rd Pealm to the Covenanters’ tune in the morning. The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper will be observed at the Green Island Church to-morrow morning. In the evening the choir will render Stainer’s “ Crucifixion," the soloists being Mr C. C. Scott (tenor) and Mr S. 6. Angel (buss). At the York Place Hall to-morrow evening Mr A. Loudon’s address will be based on the question, “Lovest Thou Me?” Mrs Adjutant Tong will deliver the addres at the Salvation Army Citadel, Dowling street, to-morrow morning. At the afternoon service Mrs Pocklington, who has had a wide experience of Salvation Army work, will be the speaker. Adjutant Tong will speak at the evening service on “ Christ’s Mission.”

A special service for students will be conducted by the Rev. E. S. Tuckwell (assisted by S.C.M. members) at the Hanover Street Baptist Church to-mor-row evening, his subject being “ What Does It Mean to Believe?” The choir will sing ‘lvory Palaces,” “Rhondda,” and “And the Glory.” Communion wiil follow. Mr Tuckwell will also conduct the morning service. First Church of Christ Scientist, Dunedin branch of The Mother Church, Boston, will hold services to-morrow in Allbell Chambers, Stuart street, at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. The subject will be “ Matter.” Farewell services will be conducted by the Rev. H. L. Blamires at the Cargill Road Methodist Church to-morrow, “Jesus in the Midst” being the morning subject and “ The Reproach of the Cross ” the topic at 6.30 p.m. A solo and an anthem will be rendered.

The evening people’s service at the St. Clair Methodist Church to-morrow will be conducted by the Rev. W. H. Greenslade, the topic being “An Unremitting Lover.” The 10-minute sing-song will be resumed at 6.20 p.m. The Rev. R. Ferguson Fish will conduct both services at the Caversham Presbyterian Church to-morrow. Stainer’s “The Crucifixion” will_ be sung at the evening service at the United Congregational Church to-morrow, the principals being Messrs C. S. Hawes, John Kennedy, and G. Dyer. The Rev. James M, Smeeth will give a brief ,d----drese. His morning subjects will be “The Singing Kettle” (children) and “Possible impossibilities.”

At the Maori Hill Presbyterian Church to-morrow the communion service will be held in the morning. In the evening there will be a service of dedication for workers in the youth and other departments of the congregation, with a communion service at the close.

Harvest thanksgiving and gift Sunday will be observed at Trinity Methodist Church. Stuart street, to-morrow. The Rev. L. B, Neale will conduct the morning service, and in the evening the Rev. H. E Bellhouse will be the preacher, taking as his subject “The Sower: A Study in Faith and Courage.” The anthems, “ The Marvellous Work,” and "Ye Shall Dwell in the Land,” will be sung by the choir, Misses E. Shepard and Phyllis West and Mr B. C. Bellhouse acting as soloists. Miss Dorothy Sligo will sing the solo “ Thanks be to God.” Special offerings will be received for the circuit debt. Communion will be celebrated at the morning service at the Roslyn Presbyterian Church to-morrow. In the evening the church choir will render Stainer’s “ Crucifixion.” The soloists will be Messrs J. Leech, W. Ruffell, and lan M'Allurn. Harvest thanksgiving services will be conducted at the Methodist Central Mis sion. Octagon Hall, to-morrow. The Rev. F. E. Foote will be the preacher in the morning, and the Rev. Leslie B. Neale will preach on “ Where Have You Gleaned To-day? ” at the evening service. The soloists will be Mrs George Scott and Miss Mary Pratt. Everyone is cordially welcomed to these special services. Easter services will be held at the Moray Place Congregational Church tomorrow, when the Rev. Albert Mead will be the preacher. Continuing the studies in “Isaiah,” his morning subject will be “The Prince of Peace.” In celebration of the sacred passion of our Redeemer, Stainer’s " Crucifixion ” will be rendered in the evening by an augmented choir under the conduotorship of Mr Alfred Walmsley. . . At the St. Kilda Methodist Church tomorrow the Rev. Percy Paris will preach in the morning on “TTue Kingliness: A Study for Palm Sunday.” and in the evening on “Christ’s Parable of the Bridge: A Talk for Those Who Could Not Go to Sydney.” , “What Shall Become of Our Boys and Girls? ” will be the theme of Mr MacGregor Walmsley’s address on vocational guidance in the Theosoplucal Hall, Dowling street, to-morrow.
