STABILISATION MEASURES SUPPORT FROM CANADA (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) OTTAWA, February 25. (Received Feb. 26, at 0 p.m.) The House of Commons to-day adopted a resolution proposed by the Minister for Trade and Commerce (Mr H. H. Stevens) that the Canadian delegates to the Imperial Economic Conference be Instructed to initiate and support “measfor the stabilisation of the currencies of all British countries in such a manner as to facilitate trade between the component parts of the Empire, and to promote economic unity therein.” The Prime Minister (Mr li. B. Bennett) and the Opposition Leader (Mr MacKenzie King) found themselves in agreement to-day in the belief that Canada’s representation at the Imperial Conference should consist of supporters of the Government and not of all parties of Parliament. Referring to the matter Mr Bennett said that some Prime Ministers of the dominions from time to time contended that it was rather unsound that only one part should be represented, and that the Government of the day should be assisted by the Leader of the Opposition, ■“ but that view has not obtained here, and is not likely to obtain.”— (“Hear,, hear.”) He was glad that Mr King agreed with him. The principle upon which opposition to this view was based was that the Government of the day must assume responsibility for what was done at the conference.
