PASSION PLAY OF OBERAMMERGAU

Lovers of art will have a treat at His Majesty’s Theatre on Monday and Tuesday next when the pictures of the Passion Play of Oberammergau are to be shown. Each individual picture has been hand painted by Mr A. C. Dixon, one of London’s best artists, and each cost from three to four guineas. They have been commented upon by the press as the finest displays of art over portrayed upon the silver screen. These pictures are shown by official sanction and under royalty to the Oberammergau community, and are the only ones which have ever been allowed to be taken. The play has been running every 10 years since 1034, yet this is the first time that the pictures have ever been shown in New Zealand. The last performance of the play was in 1930, and these art pictures are of that presentation with Alois Lang in the leading role. The box plan is now open at the Bristol.
