(From Our Own Correspondent.) BALCLUTHA, February 26. PERSONAL. At the Balclutha School this morning Mr W. O’Connor, headmaster, was the recipient of an electric reading lamp from the children of the school, on the occasion of his departure for Greytown. Later in the day, Mr O’Connor left on the first stage of his journey north. _ Mr C. J. Wood is representing the Balclutha Methodist Church at' the meeting of synod in Christchurch. CALEDONIAN SPORTS. An exceptionally large entry is expected for the various events at the Caledonian Society’s sports, to be held on March 12. The cyclinc events are expected, judging from inquiries made, to attract some prominent riders from Dunedin and Southland.
