Examination of the roof of the parish church at Chagford, Devonshire, has shown that its collapse, which occurred just at the close of a service, is due to the ravages of the death-watch beetle. The entire, roof of both chancel and nave has lately been held up by scaffolding. It is estimated that repairs will cost about £2OOO.
