PLUGS FOR RADIO SETS
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —It was with great interest I read the letter in this morning’s Daily Times written by “ Live Wire ” about the electric power and lighting department insisting on users of radio sets installing a special plug for the working of their machines. This is a matter which the radio clubs throughout New Zealand should take up in order to see that no regulation providing for special plugs is passed. Why should a radio not be worked from a light socket? The wires are high overhead, whereas a vacuum cleaner can be so worked and the wires dragged all round the room and walked on. Any regulation such as this would be adding needless expense to would-be radio users when the fittings sold at present have been so long in use and are so safe. For the department to move in having such a regulation passed would make the public conclude that there might be an understanding between it and the various electrical firms, which are no doubt having a rather lean time. — I am, etc., Radio.
