DEATH FROM SUFFOCATION (Per United Press Association.) WAIPUKURAU, January 16. About 8.30 this morning the body of Samuel Buchaell Hingliton, aged 46, a well-known resident of Waipawa for 20 years, except during his war service, was found in a room at Waipawa in circumstances pointing to gas suffocation. He leaves a widow and a daughter of 17 and a son of 14. .TWO MEN INJURED ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE OF A RIFLE. (Per United Press Association.) •CHRISTCHURCH, January 17. A bullet discharged accidentally from a rifle while a company of volunteers was having its first practice at New Brighton beach yesterday afternoon went through the leg of J. T. Glasson, aged 18, and lodged in the leg of E. Hulme, aged 20. Both were admitted to the hospital, Hulme being operated on during the night. The condition of both men is satisfactory. FALL OVER A CLIFF MUSTERER SERIOUSLY INJURED. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, January 17. Lionel Barnes, a musterer employed at Mount White Station, near Cass, fell over a cliff yesterday morning, injuring his' head and legs. He was found by another musterer, and, after receiving medical attention, was brought to the Christchurch Hospital. His condition is grave. MOTOR CYCLIST INJURED (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTHURCH, January 17. Following a collision between his motor cycle and a motor car last evening, F. T. Eastgate, of New Brighton, was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital with a compound fracture of the left arm and head injuries. His condition is serious. MAN’S SUDDEN DEATH Alexander Riach, a married man, 47 years of age, licensee of the Empire Hotel, died suddenly in bed on Saturday night. It is understood that an inquest will not be necessary. MOTOR CYCLING ACCIDENT While riding at the Speedway Roylc on Saturday night, Alexander Inglis, a single man, 24 years of age, residing at 16 Highgate, Roslyn, was thrown from his cycle. He was admitted to the Hospital at 10.45 p.m. suffering from concussion and injuries to his ankle.
