SOCIETY WEDDING
A YOUTHFUL COUPLE SYDNEY GIRL MARRIES EARL. LONDON, January 12. (Received Jan. 13, at 5.5 p.m.) The marriage of Miss Patricia Richards, of Sydney, aged 19, to the Earl of Jersey, aged 21, took place at St. Margaret’s, Westminster. The earl is a grandson of the late Lord Jersey, who at one time was Governor of New South Wales. The wedding, which was one of the social events of London this winter, was the most youthful society wedding that London has seen for many years. There were 10 bridesmaids, one of whom was Miss Brokaw, a member of a New York millionaire family, who specially travelled to London to attend the ceremony. She, like several others, went to school with the bride in Paris. The guests included Lords Richard Nevill and Loughborough, the Countess of Seafield, Lady Evelyn Beauchamp, and Mr H. Hordern. Some of the women spectators climbed the railings to secure a better view, but mounted police kept the crowds in check. The church was decorated with lilac, Bermuda lilies, and lilies of the valley specially grown in the bridegroom’s conservatories. Nine-foot vases filled with scarlet poinsettia stood on each side of the altar. . , The bride wore a diadem enlaced with pearls. Mrs Kenneth Richards was hostess at the reception.
