PROMINENT OWNER RETIRING
(Feb United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, January 7. It is likely that before the end of the present month Mr V. Riddiford’s large training establishment at Trentham will be closed, and most of the horses will be offered for sale at auction. Mr Riddiford lias announced his intention of retiring from his extensive participation in sport in the Dominion. The stables were erected about nine years ago, and horses from there have since earned over £30,000 in stakes. Hig best horses have been Grand Knight and Historic. Mr Riddiford intends to keep Historic am] Clangor meanwhile, and may have them trained at another centre. Three sons of Limond —the three-year-old Forestry and the two-year-old colts Meritor and Might—will probably bo sent to Australia, and S. G. Reid may go across and set up establishments there. If these horses should race successfully Mr Riddiford may continue to patronise Australian meetings.
