BOWLING TOURNAMENT,
The Alexandra Bowling Club continued its Christmas tournament yesterday with the Rinks Competition. The green was in perfect order. Sixteen entries were received and the competition was played in four sections, the section winners being;—Milton Club: Clark, Morrell, M'Callum, Farrell; Otago Club;. Griffiths, Cook, Huntley, Walker; Caledonian Club: Latham, Seddon, Cavanagh, Foster; Clyde Club; Mollison, Brokenshire, George, Davidson. In the semi-finals Farrell beat Walker and Foster beat Davidson, leaving Farrell and Foster to play off the final. The final was played to-day, Farrell (Milton) defeating Foster (Caledonian) by 6 points. At the luncheon interval Mr T. Sunderland (president Alexandra Bowlipg Club) presented H. Wilkinson, winner of the previous day’s Singles Competition, with a silver cup, certificates for himself and club (Cromwell), and trophy valued at £3. . The silver cup was a donation by Mr Sunderland for this competition, the winner to hold it for one year, or to be won outright twice in succession, or on three separate occasions. V. G. Cavanagh, runner-up in the Singles Competition, was presented with trophy valued at £1 10s. On Friday next the Central Otago Championship Rinks Competition will be played on the Alexandra Green, The Pairs’ Competition started this morning in bright sunshine. A record entry of 32 pairs is taking part.
