THE WINTON MEETING

The Winton Club’s annual fixture will be held to-day, and as the fields will largely be comprised of horses who competed at Gore on Saturday, backers* may find it profitable to follow the form shown at the latter place. A very likely sort engaged in the Commissioners’ Handicap is Jolly Drive, who may be made favourite over Man o’ Franz and Sunflasb. Despite Trafalgar Boy’s defeats at Gore, lie will be backed in the South Hillend Handicap, but Earl Bingen and Fcrnlee are likely to keep him busy. Even with the penalty he has entailed ns a result of his win at Gore. Gold Country will bo favourite for the Winton Trotting Club Handicap, and tins time he mav find Gold Tinge and Erin’s Fair two of the hardest horses to beat. Taking a line through Gore, form. Central Pointer looks the pick of the Stewards’ Handicap, but Silverwood and Senorita are likely to show improvement. If Earl Bingen misses a win in his earlier engagement ho will have a solid following in the President’s Handicap, and Kama Id ar and Trafalgar Boy may also be selected as likely to show improvement. Sunny Morn looks tbe pick of the Speedwell Handicap, in which Mountain Dweller and Erin’s Fair look the next best. There is little doubt that Blue Mountain will be the public’s choice in the Members’ Memorial Handicap. Speckled Gold and Red King may give him most trouble. One of the best fields of the clay will contest the Farewell Handicap, and the probable favourites are Madam Locamla, Erin’s Pride, and Senorita.
