♦ (From Our Own Correspondent.) MIDDLEMARCH, December 21. THE WEATHER. After a week of very dry. hot weatiier rain began to fall during Friday night, and at 9 a.m. on Saturday 24 points were recorded. About 4.30 a heavy thunder atom passed over the plain and another 55 points were recorded. At Ngapuna. about four miles north of Middleinarch, 240 points fell, with the result that the creeks rose suddenly, flooding part of the road, but no damage was done. The rain was most welcome, as both turnips and pastures were not making headway, an<l although the fall is not nearly sufficient to staturate the land, it will carry both turnips and pastures on for another month. Lambs are doing exceptionally well, and the prospects are that the "district will maintain its reputation for the growing of fat lambs.
