BLENDED BUTTER

SYSTEM OF MARKING THE COUNTRY OP ORIGIN. LONDON, September 19. An Order-in-Council has been issued ordering that blended butter shall be marked in accordance with the committee’s recommendations. It will come into force three months hence. The report of the committee appointed to consider the marking of imported butter recommended a series of markings in this way:—“Empire” where it is entirely overseas; “foreign ’’ where it is entirely foreign; “partly Empire ” where it consists of a blend of dominions and United Kingdom butter; “ partly foreign ” where the blend consists of foreign and United Kingdom butter; alternatively, a definite indication of all countries of origin in the blond, or the words “ including imported butter.”
