GERMAN’S BRIGHT INVENTION BERLIN, August 28. German ingenuity has invented an automatic machine, designed to effect the sort of economy that kept the country alive in war time. It is a , large contrivance, of which 60 replicas have been erected in various parts of. the city.Housewives place potato peelings in it, turn a handle, and receive a supply of cut wood in exchange. Women using the machine regularly earn a share in a State lottery ticket. It is hoped that 225,000 tons of peelings will be saved every year, for use as cheap fodder for pigs and cows.
