Mr Justice Kennedy returned to Dunedin from Oamaru yesterday forenoon. At the meeting of the City Council last night Cr Clark was granted a further three months leave of absence. Bac., F.R.C.0., A.R.A.M., examiner for Trinity College of Music, London, will arrive in Dunedin on the 30th inst., and will examine musical candidates in this city until October 22. . At the Wellington Competitions Society's annual festival yesterday Miss Dorothy Clark, of Dunedin, .gained third place in the scholarship recitation for competitors over 16 years of age and under 21. Dr Thomson, medical superintendent, and Miss Tennent, matron of the Dunedin Hospital, left for Tapanui yesterday morning- . The Right Rev. F. A. Bennett, Bishop of Aotearoa, is suffering from an * attack of bronchitis, and on Tuesday was removed to St. George’s Hospital, Christchurch, but is not expected to be there for any length of time. Mr H. S. Williams, manager of Messrs Butterworth Bros., Ltd., has been appointed Christchurch manager for Messrs Ross and Glendining, Ltd., in succession to Mr P. Davidson, and will take over his new duties in October._ Mr Williams has been over 30 years with the firm of Butterworth Bros., and has been manager since 1912, except for three years war service, and two years at the London office of the firm.
