(Received Sept, 2, at 5.5 p.m.) England made a clean sweep of the first day’s play in the international Round Robin lawn tennis tournament to-day. defeated Marcel Barnard (France), 6—4, 6—o; Perry defeated Ellsworth Vines, 6—3, 7 —5; Hughes and Perry defeated Brugilou and Boussus, 6—3, 6 —2.
