The wind was from the south in the morning, but turned to the north during the afterno° CHRISTCHURCH, September 2. The rain ceased during the night and after a cloudy morning the sun broke through, but in the late afternoon there were misty showers. The wind remained in the south-west and was cold, the thermometer registering 48 degrees. The barometer was steady at 29.68 in.
