A GERMAN RAIDER
NOW A BANANA SHIP. (From Oi:r Own Correspondent.) LONDON, July 2. When Sir Thomas Wilford was at Avonnionth Docks, Bristol, last week, a. certain vessel was pointed out to him which has a special interest to New Zealanders. Tt was a trim white s'eamer of about 4000 tons called the “ Changninola.” and it was engaged in the banana trade between Central America and Bristol. This was one of the German ships which was handed over to the scheme of reparations, and its original name was “ 'foewe ” —the German raider which was loose in the Pacific in the early days of the war. It is now one of the fleet of the Elder Dempster Line
