The Waimea arrived from Napier yesterday 16 hours late, and the Wingatui from Wellington 12 hours late. Both _experienced very rough trips. , The Kamona, which left Wellington on Thursday night, is believed to be sheltering on the coast. The liner which was due today from England, is encountering bad weather, and will not arrive before Thursday morning. The cargo services on the West Coast are still disorganised owing to the bars being unworkable. TAUPATA FORCED TO SHELTER (Per United Press Association.) NAPIER, August 5. The Anchor Line’s coastal vessel Taupata, which left Napier at 9.15 p.m. on Monday, returned at 5 p.m. yesterday oh account of heavy weather. The Taupata reached Cape Turnagain on "the trip to Wellington, but was forced to put back. On her arrival she was berthed at Napier breakwater for shelter. She is expected to sail again to-night. POOLTA IN A GALE FORCED TO RETURN. (Per United Press, Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, August 5. Shortly after 10 o’clock this morning the Union Company’s coastal steamer Poolta arrived at Lyttelton. She had been blown back to Banks Peninsula after being 29 miles off Dunedin. She ran into what the officers described as the biggest seas they had ever encountered. At one stage, though at full steam, the vessel actually went 40 miles astern in four hours. She then turned and came to Lyttelton for fresh supplies. A LONG PASSAGE. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND. August 5. The motor ship Alexander arrived at Onehunga this afternoon, having taken 88 hours on the trip from Nelson.
