NEEDS OF GERMANY
IMMEDIATE CREDIT INQUIRY BY COMMITTEE (British Official Wireless.) (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) RUGBY, August 4. . The Bank of International Settlements decided that the first meeting of the committee set up at the request of the London Seven-Power Conference to inquire into the immediate credit needs of Germany and to study the possibilities of converting a part of the present short-term credits into long-term credits shall be held on Saturday. Mr Albert Wiggin, the American member of the committee, is on his way to Europe. BANKS RESUME OPERATIONS. REMOVAL OF RESTRICTIONS. BERLIN, August 5. (Received August 5, at 7 p.m.) Although the restrictions will not be removed till to-morrow many of the banks resumed operations . to-day, and the amounts paid in exceeded the withdrawals. The Chancellor (Dr Bruening), m a broadcast speech to-night, indicated that the banks would be brought under the control of the Government, and he declared that the emergency measures had nothing to do with inflation. Depositors need not be afraid that they would lose their hard-earned savings.
