Having discharged the Dunedin portion of her general cargo from Liverpool, the New Zealand Shipping Company’s motor ship Otalo sailed yesterday morning for Brisbane. She will - load at Australian ports for the United Kingdom. The Kiwltea is now due at Dunedin tomorrow, from Auckland, via ports, to discharge general cargo. She Is timed to sail to-morrow nluht for Greymouth. The Kaponga was expected to leave Westport yesterday with coal for discharge at Bluff, Dunedin, Oamaru, Tlmaru, and Lyttelton. She Is due here on Saturday. The Opihi, which was held up at New Plymouth for several days owing to bad weather,’ left there yesterday morning for Wellington and Dunedin. She is due here on Saturday, and is timed to sail the same day for Wellington, Nelson, and New Plymouth, via ports. The Walplata left Auckland on Tuesday night for Wellington, Bluff, and Dunedin. She is due here on Tuesday, and will load for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. * The Holmdale Is due at Dunedin to-morrow from Wellington to discharge and load general cargo. She Is timed to sail to-morrow night for Wellington and Wanganui, via'ports. The Tees has been fixed to load general cargo at Dunedin on Monday for New Plymouth and 'Port Waikato. The Union Company advises that the Waipaht was to leave Rarotonga on Tuesday with fruit for Auckland, where Is due on August 12. The Japanese motor ship Brisbane Maru left Rlsdon (Tasmania) at noon on Saturday for Wellington, where she was due yesterday. She Is to sail to-day for Auckland. The Kartigl was expected to leave Sydney on Saturday for Newcastle to load for Auckland. . The Gabrlella is to leave Greymouth this week for Sydney, thence to Newcastle and Sydney to load for Napier and Plcton. The Karetu left Wellington last Saturday for Newcastle to load for Wellington and Miramar. The Union Company advises that the Walnul from Melbourne and Bluff, Is due at Dunedin to-day to discharge general cargo. She is to sail (his evening for Lyttelton. Wellington, and Melbourne. POOLTA’S PROTRACTED VOYAGE. The Union Company’s cargo steamer Poolta, which left Wellington last Saturday evening for Dunedin, encountered heavy southerly gales and high seas, and was compelled to put Into ' Akaroa for shelter. She left there yesterday morning, and, after calling at Lyttelton for stores, sailed for Dunedin. The vessel Is due to-day, and is timed to sail tonight for Oamaru, Timaru, and Lyttelton to complete loading for Napier and Gisborne. THE GOLDEN COAST. Messrs H. L. Tapley and Co. advise that the American steamer Golden Const Is due at Dunedin on Saturday from Pacific coast ports, via Auckland, Wellington, and Lyttelton. After discharging Canadian and American cargo she will sail for Sydney to complete discharge. WAIHEMO FROM PACIFIC COAST. The Walhemo is scheduled to arrive at Auckland to-morrow from Los Angeles. The vessel has cargo from Pacific coast ports for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, NMson, Napier, telton, Dunedin, Bluff, and Australia. - RANGITANE FROM ENGLAND. A wireless message received by the New Zealand Shipping Company from tho captain of the Rangitane states that tho vessel is expected to arrive at Auckland this morning from Lundon and Southampton. Tho Rangitane, which has been delayed by bad weather, is bringing passengers for New Zealand, and cargo for discharge at Auckland and Wellington. PORT ALMA LEAVES NEW YORK. Cable advice received states that the C. and D. Line’s motor ship Port Alma left Now York on July 30 for Tampico (Mexico) to complete loading for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland about September 7. THE CITY OF KIMBERLEY. The transhipping of the City of Kimberley’s cargo for the various New Zealand and Australian ports has been completed, and the vessel is now lying at Auckland awaiting a new propeller shaft and propeller from England.

PORT GISBORNE LEAVES COLON. En route from London, the Port Brisbane left Colon on Saturday for Wellington, where she Is due on August 23. WIRELESS PROM MATAROA. The Mataroa, which left Wellington on July 29 for Southampton and London, with passengers and cargo, has reported by wireless that all are well on board, and that favourable weather has been experienced since leaving port. PURIRI PROM NEW YORK. The A. and A. Line has received a wireless message from the captain of the chartered steamer Purirl, en route from ,Now York and Galveston, reporting that she expects to reach Auckland at daybreak to-day. She will later proceed to Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin to complete discharge. THE GENERAL BAQUEDANO. The Chilean naval training ship General Baquedano left Sydney at noon last Friday for Auckland. The vessel Is on a Pacific cruise and Is scheduled to reach Auckland about August 12. She is a steam sloop of 2500 tons. STEAMERS RECOMMISSIONED. The Union Company's Kalmai, which had been laid up at Wellington, was recommissioned on Monday. She is proceeding to Greymouth to load for Miramar and Wellington. The Union Company’s Kanna, which had been laid up In the stream at Wellington, has been recdmmlssloned. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion steamer Tuiroa arrived at Port Chalmers yesterday morning from Bluff, and was berthed at the George street wharf to load frozen meat, dairy produce, and general cargo for London. The Talroa left London on May 27 for Australian ports, via Suez. She had a good passage until after passing through the Red Sea, after which bad weather was, experienced for practically the whole way to Australia. At Bluff the ship loaded approximately 17,000 freight carcasses of mutton, 4000 crates of cheese, 400 bales of wool, and 100 casks of tallow. Captain D. Christie commands the Talroa, and associated with him are the following:— Chief officer, Mr T. T. Oliver; second, Mr G. Almond; third, Mr C. Meyer; fourth, Mr L. Miller; chief engineer, Mr P. Moore; second, Mr G. Walker; third, Mr G. Fowler; fourth, Mr W. Yeo; fifth, Mr J. Bullock; sixth, Mr D. Wallburn; seventh, Mr R. The Talroa is to sail this afternoon for< New Plymouth, Wanganui roadstead, and Wellington to complete loading. PERSONAL ITEMS. j Captain'C. Sharpe Is now in command of the Poolta, relieving Captain W. W. Fish, who has come ashore at Wellington on sick leave. Captain C. J. Stein, who was chief officer of the vessel, has transferred) to the Oonah la a similar capacity, relieving Mr E. A. Buckingham, who in turn has transferred to the Kowhai, relieving Mr L. H. English. Mr W. A. Dawn, second officer of the Loongana, has transferred to the Oonah In a similar capacity, relieving Mr J. George, who Is proceeding to Wellington. Mr G. M. Coote recently joined the Wingatul as third officer, and Mr J. Lyon has joined the Walplata as second officer. Mr F. J. Cochrane has rejoined the Kakarlkl as second officer at Melbourne, relieving Mr F. H. G. Clark, who has transferred to tlje Ngakuta In a similar capacity, relieving Mr R. Ainsworth for further orders. Captain G. B. Morgan recently took command of the Walmarlno, Captain W. A. Gray having been granted holiday leave at Wellington.

Captain W. H. D. Gardner has taken command of the-Wingatul at Auckland In place of Captain W. WhiteQeld, who has come ashore on holiday leave. Captain R. L. Davies is now master of the Walotapu, relieving Captain A. H. Prosser, who Is proceeding to Wellington for instructions, , Captain A. W.
