The British Mechanical Warfare Experimental Establishment held a novel steeplechase meeting over a two-mile course recently to discover the most efficient types of mobile machines. About 50 vehicles were engaged, and machines of the newest type had to give a long start to many of the older ones. The newest 30-ton tanks raced up a hill at an angle Of more than 45 degrees, followed by huge tractors, while little seven-horse power motor cars, which arc replacing the motor cycle and side car in the army, negotiated ditches with case.
