CAT REARS CHICKENS

A FAMILY OF LEGHORNS. “Puss” belonging to Mrs J. Goodacre, of the Post Office, Wartnaby, is Leicestershire’s oldest cat. She is 17 years old, has no descendants, and, instead of bringing up kittens, she has devoted her life to rearing chickens. This year she has a family of 14 white Leghorns, which she is looking after equally as well as any One year Puss brought up a family of ducklings, and, all went well until theybegan to try their skill at swimming, when they caused great alarm to their foster-mother. . After repeatedly dragging them from the water’s side, she decided to take them into the house. The door ivas locked, so she collared the ducklings one by one, climbed up a- pear tree on the house wall, and dropped them through a bedroom window.
