AMATEUR FOURSOMES TITLE YOUTH TRIUMPHANT. MELBOURNE, August 4. Youth was triumphant in the amateur foursomes title, which H. Williams (16) and R. Harris (20), with 155 for 36 holes, won, being five strokes fewer than the runners-up, M. Ryan and Sloan Morpeth. Edgar and Rule (the titleholders) finished sixth, with 166. THE CHAMPIONSHIP. The first round of matches in the Victorian amateur golf championship was" remarkable for the defeat of the veteran A. Jackson by a 16-year-old golfer, H. L. Williams, who gave a fine exhibition of driving and played his irons with mechanical accuracy, eventually winning by 4 and 3. After a great struggle at the thirty-seventh, F. Bulte eliminated the former open champion, Ivo Whitton, at the final hole/ Sloan Morpeth defeated L. MThcrson 5 and 3.
